I wish you could have been on our early morning run! What a terrifying tale to tell!!! :)
I don't know if any of you have ever encountered a real GIANT black and white ball of stink (also known as a SKUNK) but boy did we!
You would have thought there had been a man-eating beastie after us as we huddled together in a ball in the middle of a street corner as we saw this hairy creature approach us hastily.
Lucky for us, Jill decided to run calmly as Leesa, Jessica, and I stood frozen in our tracks. We planned our escape route in what sounded like a hushed foreign language as to disguise our ideas so the 'monster' wouldn't pick up on our plans. Ha!
Poor Jill, about 50 yards ahead of us by this point, started screaming something fierce as the Terrible Threesome were still attached at the hip, not wanting to risk the encounter with this 20 lb. creature.
"Oh, no!" Leesa responded, "I think IT is chasing her! Comm'on! We have to catch her!!"
Frantically we all broke into a quick sprint to see what was the matter when we got to the bend, and were greeted by the sounds of a chain saw...
When to our surprise, a frail, 80-year old man was only edging his lawn at 5A.M.!!!!
(Who does that?!?!)
With our hearts up to our teeth, we decided this had been a grand enough adventure for one day. We ran faster than ever back to the comfort of our own cars. Center Street had never looked so safe and inviting!
Needless to say, we thankfully didn't get sprayed by our friend Beastie. I decided that this particular morning had only been the beginning of a very early Happy Halloween!
Happy Trails!
