Yachats, Oregon

This marks the beginning of my adventures as Mrs. Ashley Dawn Holm. :) We went to the beautiful Yachats, Oregon to celebrate our marriage in August, and I suppose I wanted to reminisce! Ah! It was simply gorgeous there! We stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast/spa retreat which overlooked the entire ocean--and we could go on morning runs bear foot since the trail started right when we opened our door! We hope to live there one day...when we are rich and famous! :)

To the right, is a picture of the wonderful Oregon Temple where we were able to stop at just before our flight back to reality. :) I wished we had had more time to explore! But the temple was simply breath-taking with all the greenery surrounding it!

I can't believe Peter convinced me to touch this nasty thing! EW! It's skin felt really strange! This was a fun museum that we stopped at that had a fun "petting zoo" where you could feel all the treasures
in the ocean! Then we ate fresh berries that are found all over the place there--they even grow near the highways there because of the climate! YUM! I was in heaven!!! (I think the Oregon natives might have thought we were a bit crazy as I excitedly shrieked at the idea of FREE berries...and all you can eat, too!)

Here's a picture of me with the nasty little lobsters! We would find these all over the place on our runs in the mornings, but the poor little guys would have to watch out for the hungry seagulls! (but I made Peter save one that we saw getting attacked by those ravenous beasts! Hey! He made a difference to that one!) I had been trying to find a sand dollar the entire week, but the seaguls always got to them first!

We were able to go to the largest and most notorious aquarium while we were there in Oregon. I was able to see tons of sharks in an underground aquarium that surrounded from all sides and from top to bottom. That was the neatest part! Then we saw real jelly fish, sea turtles, and little Nemo's and Dorrie's! That was a grand adventure!

Kite flying was one of our favorites while we were there. I finally got my kite to stay up in the air! (I am such a bad steerer!) Peter was a total pro! He could keep it up for hours!!! Good thing the wind was a bit cold, or I don't think we would have eaten dinner that day! :)

And yes, the sea lions! What a noisy bunch this crew was (and EXTREMELY lazy!) I think they could use some serious personal training, Liz! We stopped here as we were exploring town and hitting up all of the cute little shops they had there. The cinnamon salt water taffy was to die for... and I don't even like taffy!

Hopefully we get to go back there lots! I think that is my new favorite vacation place! :)
