101 And Always a Mom

I am standing by grandma's side after kissing her on the cheek and getting ready to say goodbye. Then, in almost a panic, grandma's concerned and caring voice chimes in without a moments hesitation: "Pull down your jacket in the back, Dolly! And don't forget the front!"

To preface, I was wearing a white shirt made from long John material. In her eyes, this was long underwear, and heaven forbid I show my under garments in public!

Even at 101, she still knows what is best. She will always be a concerned mom!

Today, was a very good day. She was up as six a.m. ready for a good hearty breakfast. She is a very smart and amazing lady! We couldn't even fool her into eating one more scoop of her Trix yogurt with her daily medicines as she said, "That's NASTY!!!"

We would exchange disgusted glances and smiles and cringe when grandma would try and get her to eat another spoonful.

We keep seeing more and more sparks of her loving personality. With honest thank you's, calling me "Dolly," and seeing her sly smile and twinkle in her eye every time she beat us in Kings in the Corner. These experiences remind me of the time I spent with grandma when I was a little girl.
