We're Off to See the...Food Bank!

I will never forget the memories and experiences Elizabeth and I had on our date at the Utah Food Bank on Friday. The good feelings I felt and the comfort and kindness I was surrounded by just filling bags of pasta. There are amazing people all around us. We just have to open our eyes in order to see them!

We met a hard-working, pregnant woman from Africa who comes ready to serve every day. Who works diligently and led us through her patience and example.

This particular day, I had experienced a little glimpse of what the statement, "When you are in the service of your fellow men, you are in the service of your God" means. This experience helped me reach outward--stepping out of my comfort zone-- and ultimately taught me the importance of every individual I encounter. Each person has a unique gift and something I can learn a great deal from.

What an enjoyable day, talking, meeting new people, working together, and sharing laughter and smiles! It was so good to get away from my daily routine and help others for a change.

Serving others seems to be the ultimate healing power for me and my bottle of nerves! Thanks so much for such a fun day, Liz! I LOVE spending time with you!

If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain. If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain. -Emily Dicinson
