One-Year Anniversary & Birthday Extravaganza

We spent our one year anniversary and my birthday in Wayne County at the Boulder Mountain where my family and I always go camping every year. What a fun vacation together! It was so nice to spend a few days enjoying this beautiful earth that was created for us. I found it so relaxing and rejuvenating to spend time enjoying nature and getting away from all the stresses of life.

How wonderful it was to just be able to talk with Peter for three hours on the car ride there and to see and talk with my parents and grandparents. We had such a fun time and ate the most wonderful meals! From Navajo Tacos to Dutch Oven and Chili Colorado. YUM! That was so nice dad made enough for all of us!

While we were there, we were able to hike Calf Creek Falls and we got to do a little rock hopping, since we lost the trail for a time. Then, we met a sweet girl from Sweden who was running with her boyfriend and got lost. We helped her find her way to the falls and she found her friend she was running with (that would have been so scary! Lost in a foreign country...not being able to speak the language very well...Not my idea of a fun vacation!)

Peter and I rode to Capitol Reef where we picked plums and apples from the orchards in Fruita...All you can eat while you are there...for free!!! Too bad it started to rain on us, but at least we were able to try some of the famous fruit!

On the hike, I dared to drink out of the stream with Peter's water filter. I wish I could say I LOVED the cool, refreshing, waterfall water but I was a little too disgusted with all of the gnats and bugs that I could've eaten! Hopefully I can get more accustomed to using it since this gadget is a whole lot lighter to pack if we go backpacking than packing enough water for a few days!

This was a picture of the off-the-trail adventure we took on our hiking excursion. I'm getting better at climbing down rocks since we tend to do this quite often! :)

And here is the view of Capitol Reef. I love the red rocks around this area!

While we were there, we were able to see a Rodeo (not my favorite thing), the county fair where EVERYTHING is fried--including: candy bars, Twinkies, and ding dongs! Needless to say, we didn't dare try one...sounded like a heart attack to me! And on the last day, my parents celebrated my birthday by making a giant breakfast of blueberry pancakes, eggs, and sausage. My sister and her cute friends decorated the picnic table tablecloth and I blew out a candle in my pancake! What a fun vacation to end on at the close of summer vacation!
