A Fun-Filled Family Reunion Spent in Island Park, Idaho

We stayed in the cute lodge called, "A River Runs By It" in Idaho Falls this past weekend with Peter's side of the family as a continuation of a backpacking tradition Peter has been doing with his dad and brothers since he was just little.

He hiked up to Slew Creek with his dad and brothers with his 90lb pack as they headed up the arduous ten- mile hike into the back country of Yellowstone. After his pack had blew out a couple times and the straps on his pack had burst because of the heavy load he was bearing-- they finally made it to their designated camping spot and they pitched their tents for the remainder of the week.

While they were there, they saw a moose, bison, a small black bear, and wolf tracks. I think they had a wonderful time together. And they arrived safely at the lodge where all of the wives met them on Sunday morning with no major catastrophes to report...except, to find out on Monday that Peter's brother, Steve had only hiked out of camp on a broken foot! We hope it heals quickly! :)

What an enjoyable vacation together with family as we shared our goals and created vision board after watching "The Secret." What a wonderful idea, Mom! Thanks for sharing that with us! Now I am more determined to visualize and keep my goals.
Peter and I went on a run together in the morning with the crisp, cool wind blowing and the smell of fresh rain remaining from the storm from the night before. Judy and Tim were such welcoming hosts and made us such wonderful breakfasts!

We also enjoyed a day boating and hiking while Peter caught frogs for the nieces and nephews!

We loved going on the paddle boats in the morning, too! The water had been our backyard for a few days! What a lovely trip! We are excited for next year!
