Our first hike of the year! Burr! I guess we jumped the gun a little too soon! The trail head was packed with snow, but it made for a fun adventure! However, after we had climbed for about a mile and a half the trail (or what was left of it from previous dare-devil hikers) were "No Trespassing" postings all around us. And while Peter suggested we continued onward through a different path, I did not want to spend six months in jail or receive a 10,000 dollar fine.

So, instead, we ended up eating our picnic atop an huge cement barrier that overlooked the area of Sundance (since this was the only place not buried by ice and snow!). How gorgeous!!! We saw a beautiful blue bird and smelt of the crisp, fresh mountain air while eating grapes and resting under the clouds.
On our way down, we sledded on our bums down the mountain face. That was definitely not my first choice of options down...but my husband convinced me that it would be just like sledding. And it was a blast! We went down as a train hooked together--with me at the caboose so I wouldn't be reminded of how scary it was while screaming the entire way down, of course!
What a beautiful adventure!!!
